Starling

This starling was captured as a nestling and kept in a local home for several weeks before being turned over to CWRC. It was obtained late in the season and was not very afraid of humans. Because of the time of year and habituation to humans, this bird was kept over the winter in the hopes that it could be integrated with local starlings the following spring. He had minimal human contact and good exposure to other birds and once spring came, he wanted nothing to do with people. He was released the following spring and was seen actively retrieving insects from the grass before flying off to join other starlings. At the CWRC, patients are not normally given names. This bird was an exception and due to mischievous behaviour as a nestling, he was known as "Dr. Evil " for the duration of his stay at CWRC.
